Happy Fire Safety Week!!

Such a beautiful day!!
A fire safety day, at that!
This week has been full of fire safety fun!

We practiced STOP, DROP, and ROLL by actually completing the steps, and reinforced the concept through a three step sequencing activity. The students learned to STOP, DROP, and ROLL when their clothes catch fire. The emergency number, 911, has also been a focus. Today we spent time determining which scenarios were appropriate for using this number. We sprayed out fire in the sensory table, set up flames in the block center, and drove cars through our temporary table top town. Our fire truck craft this year, involved cutting out our own wheels and assembling without specific instructions. We also practiced writing "911" on our fire truck to remind us of the emergency number. By mixing red and yellow paint with saran wrap, we came up with a fiery, orange background. We were also introduced to the letter "Ff", have been practicing it's sound and learning about words that have an initial /f/ sound. Some students will also be incorporating the word "fire" into their writing. We have yet to create our fire safety rules booklet and continue our study on Abraham and Sarah. God promised Abraham he would have as many descendants as there are stars in the sky! That is a whole lot; more than we can count! Each of us is made a star through Jesus, so a little time spent on self portraits will also make its way into the remainder of the week.
If you haven't sent me the phone number you wish for your child to practice, please do!

This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it. ~Psalm 118:24

Have you.....

1. Turned in your child's permission slip?
2. Turned in your cookie dough orders?
3. Given your child a big squeeze today?

BLESSINGS!!!!!
